It is raining cats and dogs in Squamish.
Not really, but the has seen a record number of adoptions so far this year.
As of Sept. 6, 200 furry friends have been adopted by locals. In August alone, 51 animals 鈥 48 cats and three dogs 鈥 were taken to their new forever homes.
The increase can be attributed to the many pets that are sent to our location from other SPCAs around the province. 聽Twenty-four animals in one week were transferred to the not-for-profit 撸奶社区SPCA due to wild fire evacuations.
聽鈥淲e do so well with adoptions at our branch here in 撸奶社区that we have taken in transfers almost every week to help the other SPCA branches up north that are overflowing with cats and kittens,鈥 a 撸奶社区SPCA spokesperson told The Chief. 鈥淲e are so thankful that we have such an amazing community filled with people wanting to adopt animals in need.鈥
